Kathmandu: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Deveraj Ghimire, has called for increased use of information technology (IT) in education, social and health sectors. In his message of best wishes on the occasion of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Ghimire said that IT can help Nepal achieve significant progress in these sectors.

He said that IT has the potential to transform the world into a single village, but that there are still challenges to making it safe, reliable and widely accessible. He added that Nepal has the potential to advance towards economic development and prosperity by using IT to create job opportunities.

The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is observed on May 17 each year. This year, the theme of the day is "Empowering the least developed countries through information and communication technologies."

Ghimire said that Nepal is a least developed country and that IT can help it to overcome its challenges and achieve its development goals. He called on the government, the private sector and the people to work together to make IT a more effective tool for development.

Here are some specific ways in which IT can be used to improve education, social and health services in Nepal:

Education: IT can be used to provide online education to students in remote areas. It can also be used to create interactive learning experiences that are more engaging and effective than traditional methods.
Social: IT can be used to provide social services such as healthcare, counseling and job training to people in need. It can also be used to connect people with each other and build stronger communities.
Health: IT can be used to provide telemedicine services to people in remote areas. It can also be used to collect and analyze data on health trends and to develop new treatments and interventions.
Ghimire's call for increased use of IT in Nepal is timely and important. IT has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of people in Nepal and to help the country to achieve its development goals.
